We’ve been around since 2004, in the early days, of work related learning. Today, it’s more common to hear people talk about virtual industry placement as a way to solve some of the challenges around careers education. Issues like the pandemic and safeguarding, and other practical challenges, make real world work placements, harder than ever.

We do love real world work experience, there really is no replacement for getting a young person into a working environment. But if they dream of being an aerospace engineer, or an interior designer, a nurse, a vet and so on, it’s incredibly hard for them to get any real experience in those settings. With Virtual Industry Placement, from Accountants to Vets, we’ve got it covered. We invented the term, Virtual Industry Placement, 20 years ago when working with a group of students in London. Back in 2003 we launched the National Virtual Industry Placement Scheme, and spent months going around the country with the Department For Education. Back then we had a library of job diaries based on interviews with real people, doing real jobs.

Fast forward almost 20 years and our experience, and changes in technology, mean we are now able to not only bring those diaries direct to the students in better ways, but they can listen to those diaries using audio and now, every job has a unique career video, to help support the students understanding of that career. With lesson plans and industry overviews it’s grown into a great resource.

There are over 100 carefully curated jobs with career introductions, Job diaries covering 12 months, and videos. This fantastic site operates as a teaching and learning resource in the classroom, and can be teacher led, or support self learning. We also have lesson plans to help staff use myVIP across the curriculum, including areas like maths, business and languages.

On top of being fantastic value and useful for any careers week event, myVIP can also be used all year round. With an annual subscription of only £700 for the entire school covering all of your students from year 7 up, and all of your staff, the scope of this resource is considerable.
